Let’s get back to painting beautiful tree trunks and their architecture of branches!
This time our muse will be Rainbow Eucalyptus or Birch (your choice).
Rainbow Eucalyptus is an incredible wonder of nature, with a colorful trunk that looks like a paint palette of reds, oranges, and greens. I also find branch structure of a eucalyptus to be very unique – they are elegant, wispy and decoratively angled, as if an art nouveau painting came to life and planted itself in a forest.
For people that weren’t able to get into our January 2020 Birch painting workshop – you’ll have an option of making a birch canvas creation instead. With this option, the focus will be on the texture of white trunks and black markings, with the crown of colorful leaves.
On my canvases, I will be painting one of each types of trees as well as walking around the room to help you make your creation pop!
In this 3.5 hour workshop we will interpret photos and practice depicting those unique trunk markings on our canvases. The process will start by defining your composition and creating a sketch, then, layer by layer, making the trees “pop” from the background, while following artist’s instructions (that’s me!) as she paints in front of you. As it always goes with my classes, you will be encouraged to create your very own unique creation, instead of merely copying a demo painting.
Canvas size for this workshop will be 11×14
